"the devil takes a hand in what is done in haste" -kurdish proverb

a more appropriate title i could not have given myself...and literally speaking! some time back, i posted "i'm no angel" my intention was to post the following pics soon thereafter. but. i couldn't find them! only when i cleaned out the glove compartment of the '97 before it was salvaged did i discover the pics i had misplaced! (why they were in the glove compartment? i don't know!)

now...excuse the term i use...this was the best way i could describe the horrific work that existed on my left shoulder for 2 years. i referred to it as my "back alley abortion." disgusting. vulgar. i know. understand that i loathed ever having this tattoo. i had several consults with other, more professional, tattoo artists. "i can ink it with white and then do a more elaborate cover up....maybe a piece across your shoulders." or "well, you'll need to have it laser removed...then come back and we can do something over that scarred area." or "i couldn't rework that! that would be like asking me to make a circle into a square and no one knowing the difference." you get the idea. lots of advice. lots of turndowns. i was discouraged. then, one day, i go to body treasures in alton with missy...i was going to have my tragi pierced. while there, i thought, "what the hell...i'm going to ask this tattoo artist...see what he says." so, trevis took a look and said, "i can totally rework that for you. it will be pretty painful since there's an extensive amount of scar tissue built up underneath, but it will look so much better when i'm done with it..." (now...do i believe what he says? uh. kinda. so, i proceed to his books. i look through four photo albums of his work. his reworks. his coverups. picture after picture. all incredible!) i schedule an appointment to have the tattoo reworked. the day of...i'm nervous as heck! i can't believe i'm going to do this...again.

trevis took a picture before we started. excuse the photo of the photo. my scanner is on the fritz. and besides, if it was working, i'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to using it. this is what i wore on my left shoulder for 2 years...

30 minutes of work yielded this...i bled like a stuck pig. trevis said the amount of scar tissue built up underneath the tattoo was substantial. more than it should have been. basically, the shithead that did the above piece o'crap pushed the needle too deep. and that's why the ink looks so crappy. or why the whole things looks so crappy. but, let's not focus on the past...let's look towards the future...so far, so good. now for the color!

45 more minutes brought us to the end of the rework. i'm tellin ya...trevis is AMAZING! to go from what i had to this...wow! so, it was after this initial rework that i decided to have him rework the angel. he now works out of underground artwork in edwardsville, il. i couldn't recommend anyone better!!!
