cheers!

what would a return from a three day be without "the daily ritual?" missy and i headed to starbucks on lindbergh (just north of 270) and ordered the usual...two venti tazo shaken green iced teas, unsweet. well, eric (the guy who used to work the drive thru...but up and got married and is off with his wife to battle illiteracy in third world countries...i'm not making this up!) is no longer there. so, we usually get one of the girls and they're okay...but so nasal when speaking over the intercom. annoying. today, though, it was a guy we've seen there before. usually when we go in. he's supercharged, chipper coffee guy. he leans out the window, hands me the teas. "ooh...i love your top. it's so cheery. sweet!" he turns away. "cheers!" i look at missy. okay...then, he pivots toward us again. "your weapons!" and hands us two straws. he takes the money. pivots back again. "two dollars is your change! cheers!" we drove away in complete silence. and once the windows were up and we were well on our way out of the parking lot...we cracked up! someone definitely had their shot or two or three of espresso this morning! wow! what energy! what enthusiasm! it was a change of pace to "the daily ritual."
