i decided to get a bit adventurous in the kitchen...my love for cooking is always leading me to try new things...and this time, it led me to yogurt making! yes...i was scared! i mean...i would be a lab after all...creating bacteria and worse yet...eating it! oh T...where are you now?!? granted. it's not stem cell research. but all scientists must start somewhere.
first thing's first. i wanted fruit flavored yogurt. so...with some frozen berry medley from where else but trader joe's, some water and a spoonful of sugar...i made this. a fruit compote. let cool. and continue to the next step...
i had to temper the milk to a lukewarm status. (hehe...lukewarm status...i kill myself! yes. i'm that easily amused.)
and like magic...poof! the milk turns a beautiful shade of lavender. how? by adding the fruit compote of course!

once the milk and fruit mixture was ladled into the 7 six ounce jars, they will sit in warm peace & quiet for 9 hours. yes! 9 hours...and fingers crossed...i will have yogurt in the morning!
and it was really that easy. by morning, the kitchen was filled with dairy air. hehe. dairy air. sorry. again. my ridiculously easy sense of humor once again getting the best of me. seriously...the kitchen had a faint smell of tangy yogurt...almost like sour cream. a few hours in the refrigerator and the taste test would begin. so i wait. and i wait. and i wait some more. then. one tiny taste. surprisingly delicious! i was thrilled with the results! the machine is a keeper! (and if you want to know where to find one...williams - sonoma, of course!)
i enjoyed my delicious yogurt creation for the rest of the week...and in the meantime, laughed at my complete and utter dorkiness. (yes...i know i'm a dork...and remember what i told you? at least i'm a ------- dork!) ;)
